What is the USP of Exeter’s engineering department?
Engineering at Exeter maintains an excellent standing in the UK, ranking in the top 10 in The Times and The Guardian 2013 University Guides. Eighty-one per cent of our engineering students are in graduate level employment or pursue higher studies within six months of graduating. All our specialist MEng/BEng programmes are professionally accredited and are available with industrial experience or international study.
Which programmes are most sought-after?
Our undergraduate and postgraduate engineering management programmes are very popular with international students. However, civil and mechanical engineering, both have a large number of applications both from UK and international students.
What are the career prospects like?
Career opportunities for engineers are almost limitless and engineers can be found working in public sector, manufacturing, aerospace/automotive/marine/locomotive sectors, health, construction, defence, communications, education, and finance. Salaries are typically significantly higher for engineering graduates than the average for all other graduates. The flexibility and adaptability of a well-trained engineer is appreciated by employers and Exeter engineering graduates have excellent employment prospects. Students have gone on to work for companies such as Rolls-Royce, IBM, BP, Shell and Thales.
