HYDERABAD: AIMIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi slammed BJP and the Congress party for being ‘biased against’ Muslims of Hyderabad and the State at large. Owaisi came down heavily upon the two national parties while underscoring the contribution of AIMIM.

Owaisi claimed that AIMIM had predicted the end of Congress only for it to actually happen. Elaborating the deliberations that took place between him and former Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, he said, “I told Kiran Kumar Reddy that he would be the last of ‘kirans’ (rays of hope) in Congress.”

AIMIM chief also spoke in depth about his party’s contributions in fighting for the “rights of Muslims.” While almost defending his all-weather friend, the TRS, he attacked the Congress for accusing TRS of not securing quota for Muslims.

“Slave-minded Congress will you give what KCR could not give if you come to power,” he asked. He accused the BJP of displaying ‘double standards’ with regard to beef consumption, when India is one of the highest exporter of the meat. “In 2018, 18.5 lakh metric tonne of beef has been exported. Forget about two crore jobs but it is said that Hindustan [people] should not eat beef or keep beef. But, in total, India fed 2 lakh metric tonne of beef under PM Narendra Modi’s regime in five years,” Owaisi said while challenging gau rakshaks to stop beef export if it really walked the talk.

“Our party never ran behind ministerial posts, but we are running for the welfare of people,” he claimed. “We want our people to go to schools, get health intervention and the like,” said Owaisi.
