SURYAPET: IN a shocking incident, a young supporter of Congress leader Patel Ramesh Reddy poured kerosene over his body in an attempt to commit suicide in Suryapet on Tuesday. Sharath tried to set himself on fire in front of the leader’s house owing to the party high command denying the Suryapet ticket to Ramesh Reddy. Fortunately, other party members prevented the immolation.

Reddy, who had joined the Congress party from TDP on the promise of Suryapet seat, has been campaigning in the constituency for a while now.

However, he was disappointed when the ticket went to former minister and senior leader R Damodar Reddy. The incident happened during a rally organised by Ramesh Reddy. Reddy said, “I still hope that the high command will offer me the ticket. If not, my supporters will help me decide my future.”
