‘Maharana Pratap’ wins maximum trophies at ITA Awards

Popular TV show “Bharat Ka Veer Putra - Maharana Pratap” won as many as six awards at the 13th Indian Television Academy (ITA) Awards followed by daily soap "Diya Aur Baati Hum”, which took home five gongs.

“Bharat Ka Veer Putra - Maharana Pratap” won in categories like best historical-mythological serial, best actress in a negative role (Aashka Goradia), best costumes (Nikhat Mariyam Neerushaa), best editing (K. Rajgopal), best title music-song track (Karthik Shah) and best art director (Sandesh and Vishwanath), said a statement.

"Maharana Pratap” shared the best historical-mythological serial award with "Jodha Akbar" at a gala ceremony here Wednesday.

"Diya Aur Baati Hum” won five awards - best actor drama (Anas Rashid), best actress in a supporting role (Neelu Waghela), best dialogues (Raghuvir Shekhawat) and best teleplay (Seema Mantri).

"Diya Aur Baati Hum” also won best director drama for Rohit Raj Goyal who shared it with Waseem Sabir, director of “Ek Veer Ki Ardaas...Veera”.

"Veera" also won best serial drama award and Desh Ka Ladla/Ladli award (most promising child star), went to Harshita Ojha for her role as Veera in the show.

Jennifer Winget, who plays the female lead in “Saraswatichandra”, bagged best actress drama award.

The popular award for best actor was won by Karan Singh Grover for "Qubool Hai" while Devoleena Bhattacharjee won the best actress popular award for her role in "Saath Nibhaana Saathiya".”

The event was hosted by comedian Kapil Sharma with Ragini Khanna and Karan V. Grover.

Kapil's show "Comedy Nights with Kapil" also bagged two popular awards - best comedy show and best actor comedy.

There were performances by TV actors like Ruslaan Mumtaz, Hina Khan, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Lauren Gottlieb, Mukti Mohan, Eijaz Khan, Jay Bhanushali and many more.

The ITA awards will be aired on Star Plus Nov 3.
