Grunge and whacky is the way to go!

Rihanna's army core-cut hairstyle wouldn't have been so phenomenal if it waren't for the red hair.

Celebrities have always been in the lime-light, whether they’ve liked it or not. While some of them have accepted the attention, others have reveled in it. And looking the part has always kept the shutter bugs busy around them.

From custom-made designer clothes to accessories and shoes, celebrity gear screams “Look at me!” Being in vogue is no more the new vogue but creating your own style statement is. The nouveau celebrities have shunned looking elegant and classy for the grunge, whacky outfits that are not just intellectually revealing.

Lady Gaga’s latest appearance at a promo, talking about her concert post the F1 race in India, had her sporting a bouffant coloured with the Indian flag colours. Known for her eccentric outfits and matchingly ecccentric hair-dos, Lady Gaga has taken looking cool to an all new and very different level. But it isn’t just her. The current generation of pop stars are giving a new definition to the word ‘pop’. Performing artists Katy Perry, Rihanna, Pink, Nicki Minaj and Jessie J are perhaps as popular for their music as they are for their outrageous experimentation with their outfits and appearance.

For these girls, it isn’t just about the clothes — it’s the hair that says it all. Simple straightening or curling the hair into french twists or quiffs is passe. Elaborate braiding styles like Alicia Keys or over top accesorisation like Gaga or coloured to multi-coloured hair like Minaj or Katy Perry are the statements these brash new the-devil-may-care artists are making. For obvious reasons however, Lady Gaga takes the cake with her crazier-than-thou hair-dos.
