San Leandro, Calif. — Indian American doctors feature prominently on The Hollywood Reporter’s list of the top physicians in Los Angeles preferred by Hollywood celebrities.

The list reveals 484 doctors sought out by the likes of Kim Kardashian, Morgan Freeman, Dr. Oz and other stars and industry executives to cure their medical ailments.

Fifteen Indian American doctors have made it onto the list with specializations in fields such as cardiology, ophthalmology and pediatrics.

The Hollywood Reporter compiled the list after teaming up with healthcare research company Castle Connolly to identify the highest-rated doctors according to specialty, ranging from allergy and immunology to urology. It also asked 800 professionals in film, television and media to identify their favorite doctors in LA.

Among the magazine’s 43 “industry favorites” is Dr. Soram K. Khalsa, who practices internal medicine by combining traditional medicinal practices with alternative ones like homeopathy and acupuncture. Khalsa counts among his patients actors Morgan Freeman and Judith Light.

Also voted an industry favorite is Prediman K. Shah, who specializes in cardiovascular disease. Based at Cedars-Sinai Heart Institute, Shah is credited with performing “Saturday Night Live” actor-comedian Dana Carvey’s fourth angioplasty after his heart attack at 42.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, filmmaker Steven Spielberg and DreamWorks Studios COO Jeff Small turn to renowned urologist Inderbir Singh Gill of Keck Medicine of USC. Spielberg recommended Gill to Small after he was found to have cancer on his left kidney. Gill was able to perform a successful surgery that left Small cancer-free with 80 percent of his kidney intact. Gill is also a pioneer in robotic surgery and has collaborated with Small for various fundraising events.

Other Indian American doctors who made the list are otolaryngologist Uttam K. Sinha; endocrinologist Vikram V. Kamdar of UCLA Health System; neurosurgeon Arun P. Amar; ophthalmologists Narsing A. Rao and SriniVas R. Sadda of Keck Medicine of USC; orthopedic surgeon Sonu S. Ahluwalia; pediatricians Sonya Gohill, Suparna B. Jain, Neena Kapoor, Nanda Kerkar and Sankar Raman; and surgical oncologist Vijay Trisal at City of Hope National Medical Center and Huntington Memorial.
