WASHINGTON: Ed Sheeran, who had temporarily deleted his Twitter handle, says he “was always intending to come off Twitter” and that his decision had nothing to do with the high volume of criticism he had received for his controversial cameo on ‘Game of Thrones’.

The ‘Shape of You’ singer clarified this point on Wednesday as he took to Instagram and posted: "I came off Twitter coz I was always intending to come off Twitter, had nothing to do with what people said about my game of thrones cameo. “

"Why the hell would I worry what people thought about that. It's clearly f---in' awesome," he added.

Sheeran’s comments were published alongside “an unrelated picture of me and my wonderful manager riding off into the sunset together.”
