LOS ANGELES: Hollywood star Ryan Gosling has reportedly exited the upcoming film directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert.
The actor was set to feature in the Universal Pictures film, described as a “sci-fi action comedy”, which is scheduled for release on 19 November 2027.
According to the entertainment news outlet Deadline, Gosling is no longer part of the project as it was unable to move from its targeted release date.
Scheduling could not be worked out between the studio and Gosling to finalise a deal.
The film is the follow-up to Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022), the critical and commercial phenomenon from the filmmakers that earned over USD 100 million at the box office and won seven Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor for Michelle Yeoh, and Best Original Screenplay.
Kwan and Scheinert, collectively known as Daniels, made their feature debut with 2016’s Swiss Army Man, a fantasy comedy starring Paul Dano and Daniel Radcliffe.
They will produce the movie, along with their longtime producing partner Jonathan Wang, through the Playgrounds banner, which operates under an overall deal with Universal.
Gosling’s most recent work is Project Hail Mary, which was released on 26 March.
The film, directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, has already grossed USD 300 million at the global box office.
