With Vaagai Sooda Vaa, Iniya (her screen name, although her original name being Sruthi) is all set for Kollywood debut. Her excitement was evident when she addressed the media. Her first time with the Press was rather entertaining. Surprisingly innocent and naive, Iniya was open about her background, and her entry into filmdom and the long list of people she is grateful to.

She says, “I was in Chennai doing some post-production work for a film. It was my sixth day here and I had just then returned from Tirupati when I got the good news. I met Sargunam, who told me that after doing screen test for about 16-17 heroines, he chose me. The director was on the lookout for a face from Kerala for their conventional looks.”

A child artist, professional model and also a dancer, Iniya won the Mini Screen Maharani pageant in 2010. Elaborating on her role she says, “I play Mathi, a tea kadai owner, a simple village girl. To look and be in the shoes of a young girl in 60’s was a challenge and I was trained thoroughly. I’ve been inspired  by actors like Ambika, Radha, Urvashi and the like, as they also hail from Kerala,” she explained in fluent Tamil.
