Om Prakash Rao to Cast Daughter Shravya in Katte

Express News Service

Shravya’s performance in Rose caught the attention of everyone in Sandalwood, including her dad Om Prakash Rao, a well-known director. Impressed with her acting, he has offered her a role in his film Katte, in which she is paired with Nagashekar.  Says Shravya, “I accepted Katte without second thought, not because the director is my father, but because it was an offer from a good director and technician. It is a big deal that he chose me for the part.”

It is customary for artistes to listen to a script and character description before accepting or rejecting the role. But that was not how it was done with Shravya. “My father told me that the character would suit me, and I said ‘OK, papa’. I didn’t have to think too much because he definitely knows what is best for his daughter,” she says.

“He has always wanted to cast me in one of his films and he was more confident about it after seeing my performance in Rose. In fact, he called me after the release and told me that he has been hearing some good responses about my acting. That really encouraged me. Katte is a raw, off-beat and funny love story,” she further adds.

Apart from this, Shravya will soon accept another film that will begin in October. “This yet-to-be-titled film will feature newcomers. The subject involves Naxalities and I found it interesting. I have been thinking about it and will sign up for it soon. I have heard around eight scripts recently and I think this one is different,” she says.
