For Vinayan, bringing the movie back to theatres is a win over the ‘unjustifiable censor issues and bans’.

Director Vinayan’s venture Little Superman 3D, which was withdrawn from the theatres last year following objections raised by the Child Welfare Committee will be back on the screens.

The 3D movie, which has been re-shot, has Master Deni in the lead, along with Baby Nayantara, Praveena and Ansiba Hassan. Little Superman 3D will hit the theatres on April 14.

The children’s movie revolves around the life of little Deni, who leads a happy life, along with his parents and sisters. His father, Wilson, an executive engineer, with the Irrigation Department, finds his life being threatened after he decided to stand for justice and truth in a dam controversy.

Deni, who had the misfortune of witnessing his parents’ death, embark on a journey where reality and dream blend in, to serve a visual treat. The movie boasts of state-of-the-art graphics and visual effects. The re-shot portions include CGi, which was made entirely in the United States at a cost of over Rs 90 lakh.

However, for Vinayan, bringing the movie back to theatres is a win over the ‘unjustifiable censor issues and bans’.

“The movie suffered due to the intervension of certain people with vested interests. I released the movie after clearing it with the Censor Board. I was told from many quarters that some people had put pressure on the Censor Board with the help of a religious organisation to recall my movie from theatres.

I decided to pull it back because I didn’t want any unwanted controversy because, after all, the movie is meant for kids and their entertainment,” says Vinayan.

Vinayan says that he plans to project the movie as ‘The Bahubali of Children’. “I think the claim is justifiable because those who saw the preview are already going gaga over the quality of the graphics, expecially in a forest scene and a whirlpool scene in the climax,” says Vinayan.

The movie has Rateesh as its cinematographer while Jovy Sujo handles the background music. The music is by Mohan Sitara and Kaithapram. Anil Krishna is the art director.
