Alia Bhatt could not attend the stardust awards show, Sonam Kapoor bagged an award. This year both, Sonam Kapoor and Alia Bhatt have been nominated in the best actress category for their respective performances in Neerja and Udta Punjab.
A few weeks ago, there was a huge discussion about how Alia won the first award for best actress, of the season and organisers of that show ignored Sonam. A source says, “In the last night’s show Sonam won Editor’s choice award and Alia too was going to get it. However, Alia could not make it to the show. She had confirmed her presence and it was decided that she will get an award as it was a jury award. Since she backed out last minute, she was not given any award.”
Earlier this month, Atul Kasbekar, producer of Neerja, had expressed his displeasure over Neerja not being nominated in film of the year category by same award show organisers. On the other hand Alia did not turn up at the show at last moment.
A source says, “We don’t know the exact reason why Alia did not come. But she claimed that she had to cancel attending the event due to some urgent work. So we had to make some minor changes in the event as we were expecting her to present the award to one of the winners.”
