Shashank is on cloud nine these days. The director is set to achieve a hattrick in Sandalwood with his third film ‘Krishnana Love Story’ completing 50 days of screening and set to run for at least 100 days. This comes in the backdrop of his earlier films ‘Sixer’ and ‘Moggina Manasu’ being screened for 100 days.
The director expects the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) to felicitate the team of ‘Krishnana Love Story’ for making a successful film. “I have already informed the KFCC about it. I am yet to receive a positive reply from the organization,” he said.
KFCC, which is fighting against films in other languages, has to encourage successful directors and producers for the development of Sandalwood, said the director.
“There is no use imposing restrictions on the number of prints of films in other languages. The need of the hour is to encourage producers who make quality films,” Shashank said.
Shashank claimed that his film ‘Krishnana Love Story’ has successfully competed with big-budget movies. “It is not the amount of money spent on a film that matters for success. It is the quality that helps a film become successful at the box office,” he asserted.
The director alleged that English language dailies failed to encourage Kannada directors and producers. “There is an English daily that showcases Gautam Menon twice or thrice. It has not published a single news item on director Yogaraj Bhat,” he pointed out.
Basantkumar Patil, the president of KFCC, has denied receiving any letter from Shashank. “I am not aware of such a suggestion from Shashank. I will comment on Shashank's suggestions only after receiving information about them,” said Patil.
MS Ramesh, the president of the Kannada Film Directors' Association, has said that he had contacted the director. “Shashank told me that he did not make any adverse remark about the KFCC. He said that he wanted the KFCC to take up programmes that are aimed at encouraging successful directors and producers,” Ramesh said.
