BR Panthulu's birth centenary celebrated

BANGALORE: Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy celebrated the birth centenary of B R Panthulu, the legendary Kannada film director, producer and actor on Thursday. A threeaudio CD pack containing selected songs of his blockbuster films was released on this occasion.

Speaking at the programme, actress B Sarojadevi who has acted in Panthulu's films like School Master and Kitturu Chennamma said, "He reminds me of my mother because he used to look after us with extreme care on the shooting sets."

Actor Puneeth Rajkumar spoke of his childhood memories associated with the producer. He said, "As a child, I never got a chance to meet him. But I remember watching his classic film School Master with my cousins. I must have watched this movie at least around 200 times with my family".

Actress Bharathi Vishnu said, "I remember growing up as a kid and dancing to the song 'Ellaru Nammavare'. I never thought I was going to be an actress one day. But Panthulu sir gave me films through which I made a name and became popular. I am very grateful to him".
