Actress Shubha Poonja started her career with Moggina Manasu along with Radhika Pandit. The actress later got stuck to Duniya Vijay’s camp doing four films - Chanda, Slum Bala, Anjadiru and Thakath with the hero.
Their on-screen chemistry sparked a lot of rumours. “Vijay and I were a hit pair. That doesn’t mean I am in his camp. Even if I don’t have any films opposite him today, people always loved seeing us together on-screen. But somewhere I wanted to give it a break, else the audience may get bored,” she admits.
After the actress came out of Vijay's camp she has around five films in pipeline with different heroes. “My next outing is Beera, which is up for release. Then I have Chirayu opposite Prashant and a film opposite Sreeki of Olave Mandara fame,”she says.
Does it mean, Vijay and Shubha coming back together on-screen will be a history? To this, she says, “Nothing is permanent. Vijay and I are professionals and would definitely like to work for a good film.
As of now, I am not in touch with him. If any projects come through, which want us together, then I will touch base with him,” she clarifies. Shubha’s talent is still unnoticed in Sandalwood though her peers, who emerged with her, are doing pretty well for themselves.
But Shubha says that she is not in the rat race. “It doesn’t affect me if somebody who started with me is on top today.May be my last two films flopped but offers have not stopped coming and there is continuous work. I am glad as long as I am busy doing films.
As it is I am quite a boring person and only make appearances during the releases. I am not a publicity hound either,” says Shubha. Lying low for almost a year, Shubha is back with a bang as she breaks her village girl tag with the glamourous role in Beera.
She dons a swimsuit in her next film and she’s glad that she could carry it off well. “I was tired of seeing myself in two plats and homely characters. I wanted to switch to glam roles. Beera will portray me as a simple college going girl.
I had personally discussed with the director and told him that I wanted to do something different. That’s when a song was created for me, where I could wear a swim suit. It was a change that I wanted for myself and I look hot like never before,” she says.
The actress who was never open about her relationship status has put an end to all speculations. “Right now I am single and enjoying it. I hope with this, there will be no more gossips about my affairs and marital status,” says Shubha who signs off on a happy note.
