The newly elected President of Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) for 2012-2013, B Vijaykumar is a well known personality in Sandalwood for the past 30 years.
Currently, enjoying two positions — Chairman of Karnataka Silk Industries Corporation and President of KFCC for 2012-2013, he said, “It is heartening to see that the members trust me and chose me for this post.
" With Kannada cinema being 78 years old, the 39th President of KFCC, is happy to be a part of the committee which has a lot of youngsters.
"I am extremely happy to be associated with people who have some knowledge about the industry. My one agenda, which I sincerely hope everyone follows is that all issues with respect to films should be solved between four walls. I strongly urge all the members of the association and film fraternity to seek the chamber's help time and again," he explains.
His first job after taking charge is to help small producers who are finding it difficult to get TV rights for their films.
"I completely understand the plight of these producers who are finding it difficult to fetch money through satellite rights. The TRP ratings have allowed certain channels to buy rights of films starring bigwigs. This has affected a lot of producers to a large extent. I will soon have a meeting with producers as well as the persons concerned at the channel level, and try my best to resolve this issue,” he says.
His other initiatives include requesting the government to provide subsidy for 100 films.
“Every year, our industry comes out with at least 125 to 130 films out of which a few will always be remakes. The government is currently providing subsidy for 75 films. I would like to request them to increase the number by 25 to promote good Kannada films," he said.
Vijaykumar is a big fan of Dr Vishnuvardhan who has produced most of his films.
"During my early days in the industry, I learnt a lot from him. Later, I was considered as one of their family members. I liked Vishnuvardhan's films because his movies had a message, which changed people’s lives. I can proudly say that I have never had one black spot as a producer. I would like to maintain the same in future too. This industry has given me a lot and now it is my turn to do something good for it as the President of KFCC,” he concludes.
