Starring Praveen Malebil and Arundati Apsara, Aantharya is releasing this week along with two other films, Ambara and Jeetu. “It doesn’t matter if my film releases with a spate of movies as I am confident about its success because of its good script,” asserts director Aryavardhan Santosh Gowda, whose film has been drawing a  lot of curiosity for two reasons. One is that the film is based on a true story and secondly, it has a tag line that says, Aanantara Buddhivantarige Maatra Mathondu Aantharya (After all,  Aantharya is for intelligent people only).

“I call it a fresh concept, which has not been seen lately in any new flicks. It is the story of my friends, who had to commit a crime to save their love, and for which they were punished. Today, they are leading a happy life. Neither has their identity been revealed nor did I bring them into the picture anywhere. Secondly, there was a special reason to use such a tag line. I have seen Upendra’s direction in A. He made sure that his film was categorised differently because of the different production aspects. I have also followed a similar pattern for this film. I have made my film in such a way that the audience will be thoroughly engrossed while watching the film and not just reduce it to a popcorn show,” he says.

Director Aryavardhan Santosh Gowda has donned many hats for the film like writing the story, screenplay, dialogues, lyrics and re-recording along with direction.

Though the first print was ready last year, it has taken time for it to hit the theatres. “There were some reasons for the delay but I have no regrets. I consider it as a plus point because today’s audience is more updated and is accepting such kind of films,” he explains.

Commenting on the starcast, the director said that both Praveen and Arundati are perfect for the role. “I wanted artistes who could do justice to the real life events and I felt they fitted the bill perfectly. Praveen is a good actor. As for Apsara, she brings in her experience from Tamil films. The movie also has Jai Jagdish, Pramila Joshai and Juneja, among others in the supporting cast. ,” he adds
