Batman and Superman to Appear in Vascodigama

The point of the scene is that Hanuman, the Indian deity, is mightier than all superheroes, says the director.

In a key scene in Madhu Chandra’s Vascodigama, hero Kishore is backed by Batman, Superman, Spiderman and Ironman as he fights the villains. Later, he turns into Hanuman and vanquishes them.

“The protagonist does all this to impress a girl. But the point of the scene is that Hanuman, the Indian deity, is mightier than the superheroes of the West,” says director Madhu.

Kishore will also be seen as a commando, Bheema, Vivekananda, a yogi and a Sikh.

The film itself is more than just about entertainment, says the director. It’s a take on the Indian education system. However, it has little to do with Vasco da Gama, the explorer.

“Kishore plays a Kannada lecturer who raises relevant questions about the education system in the country.

He appears as various historical characters to make his point. It’s similar to how students learn different subjects in the classroom,” Madhu says.

Interestingly, Kishore actually used to be a professor in real life. “By mid-September, we will find out if his role in the film encourages people to ask the right questions,” the director signs off.

The film also stars Parvarthy Nair, Ashwin Vijay Kumar and Suchendra Prasad, with Ajisha Shah making a special appearance. Karm Chawla is the cameraman, while Poornachandra Tejaswi is the music director.
