Priyamani is among the few actors in South India who have managed to strike a balance between the big and small screen. Currently featuring as a judge on two dance shows — D 4 Dance in Malayalam and
Dancing Stars 2 in Kannada, the actress has also confirmed that she will be working with director Srinivas Raju in a yet-to-be-named horror comedy.
“The talks are through and I just need to sign on the dotted line,” says the actress.
Since 2013, Priyamani has had two releases in Kannada — Lakshmi and Ambareesha — and the actress has three more in her kitty, all of which are in various stages of production. But she has managed to divide her time well. She says, “Initially I was hesitant about TV, but pretty soon I realised that the small screen has a wide reach in all languages. Such reality shows appeal to the audience and luckily, both the shows have got a good response.”
According to the actress, she will be working out the dates for her latest film after looking at her schedule for the reality shows.
Director Srinivas Raju has also confirmed the news about working with Priyamani. “I want to try different genres and I found horror comedy to be quite interesting. I plan to do four films this year and each will be in a different genre. I wanted to work on back-to-back films but got stuck up with Shivam. For the horror comedy, I have roped in Arjun Janya as the music director and I will soon be finalising the rest of the cast,” he says.
Arun Gowda paired with Ragini in Nati Koli
Srinivas Raju, who has taken up heroine-centric themes by roping in Priyamani, Ragini Dwivedi and Pooja Gandhi for different subjects has announced that Ragini Dwivedi will be the leading lady in the film Nati Koli. Now, he has roped in Arun Gowda as the hero. “Arun, who has done Muddu Manase has been picked up for Nati Koli opposite Ragini. Avinash, Doddanna are among the others in the star cast. We are looking for another heroine, who will have equal scope as Ragini and should be a good dancer,” he says.
