When actor Ninasam Sathish thought of producing a film, he kept the brief simple. Just name the film such that it soars. His script writer suggested Rocket and he fell for it. And as it progresses, the film fizzles out failing to produce even a hiss.
An immaturely ambitious venture, the fragile story about love collapses into implausibility right from its opening. The film revolves around Rakesh (Sathish), who falls in love with a doctor, Shweta (Aishani Shetty), while undergoing treatment at a hospital. Shweta neither reciprocates nor rejects him. But when he follows her to Madikeri, he realises that she is engaged and about to get married. The twist comes when Rakesh meets her fiance, which takes him back to an accident, after which he was in coma. Will he give up on Shweta, after considering the circumstances, or not forms the rest of the story.
Director Shiva Shashi’s idea of taking bits and pieces from other love stories, especially Mungaru Male, and trying to give some twists, fails and the film falters from the beginning. The director tries to run the film on dialogues, but cannot find a voice.
For the first time, Ninasam Sathish’s acting falls flat. In an attempt to be a larger than life hero, he will disappoint his fans. Perhaps, the film will be a
lesson for him to not take too many responsibilities. Aishani Shetty has improved from her last outing, but the film lets her down. It is a waste of some good talents like Achyuth Kumar, Sundar Raj, Padmaja Rao, Ninasam Ashwath. There is no reason for Rajshri Ponappa’s appearance.
Poorna Chandra’s music does not help in any way and neither does Advaitha Gurumurthy’s picturisation.
Skip the rocket, go for some sparklers instead.
