Manoranjan in and as Chengumani

A Sharadhaa

Carrying forward the legacy of Eshwari Pictures and his father Ravichandran,  Manoranjan seems to have won many hearts in the industry even before he makes his screen debut. His first film

Saheba, directed by Bharath, is yet to be released and Manoranjan has already been offered three other movies.

Insiders say the young talent from the Crazy Star family has a pleasing personality and is easy to work with.

Manoranjan’s second outing will be the remake of a Tamil film VIP, made under Rockline Productions and directed by Nanda Kishore.

Manoranjan’s third will be a directorial debut for Rajguru, who has  worked as an associate in Golisoda. What is interesting about this movie is its title Chengumani, with its star-studded backstory.

The historical film Huliya Halina Mevu,  released in 1979, saw the legendary actor Rajkumar as Chengumani. The film, which was based on a novel by Bharathisutha, was about a commander-in-chief of the 18th-century Coorg region. The Rajkumar family has, therefore, always been keen on making a film titled after Chengumani.

Now, the title has been bagged by Manoranjan’s film, which the actor and the makers consider an  honour.

Ravichandran is said to have given the go-ahead for the project, and after a few rounds of discussions, the film will be finalised with an official announcement.

Though we don’t have many details, we hear that Chengumani will be Manoranjan’s first commercial movie. The actor, who didn’t want his dates to clash, said that he’ll start with the project only after he completes shoot for the VIP-remake.

The fourth film, on Manoranjan’s plate, is reportedly a thriller and to be directed by a newcomer.

With hands full, Manoranjan has earned  himself some brownie points with Sandalwood filmmakers.
