Nikhil’s project, which was almost ready to go on floors from June, has now been postponed till October. Reason? The actor is now opting for a totally new story, which is currently being written.

Initially, the team had planned to use the story written by director Chetan Kumar and to have the movie helmed by another director. Then Chetan opted out of the project, because dates with his earlier project Bharjari clashed with this movie’s dates. According to a member from the production team, they have completely scrapped the whole project and plans to start afresh.

Mahesh Rao will most likely helm Nikhil’s next film. “
Along with Mahesh, two writers from Telugu — Gopi Mohan and Meher Ramesh, are writing the script,” says our source, adding, “the best story among them will be picked by Nikhil and team, before they go on floors from October.”

Nikhil is very particular about the story, and no official announcement will be made by the production house until the script is finalised.
“Him winning an award at SIIMA as  best debutant for Jaguar has only made him more conscious about his choices,” says our source.

“He wants to be doubly careful about his script. The actor thinks way ahead of the times and wants to bring out a movie for the ‘now generation’. The decision on the subject will be made in August,” our source adds.

However, Ria Nalvade will be the heroine and will be part of Nikhil’s new subject.
