Malavika  is part of Iranian filmmaker’s first Hindi project Beyond the Clouds

A project by Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi, which was initially planned with Deepika Padukone,  has fallen into Malavika Mohanan’s lap. Work on the film titled Beyond the Clouds has started, with shooting currently on in Jaipur.

Malavika, spoke to City Express, but did not comment on Deepika being the first choice. “The only thing I know is that I did a look test and he really liked it, and told me I am on board,” says a confident Malavika. The actress is the daughter of ace cinematographer KU Mohanan.

The actress who started her career in Malayalam movies with Pattam Pole also made her mark in Kannada with Naanu Mathu Varalakshmi. For the five-film-old actress, this international film will catapult her into the next big league. Malavika knows that this movie is different from all others she has been part of so far and says, “Apart from it being a big project, I am excited to be working with a bunch of geniuses.”

The actress, who is already on the sets, has completed shoot for a few portions in Mumbai and is now in Jaipur along with the crew. Malavika says that it is a Hindi movie. “It is a Mumbai-based story made in Hindi. The whole cast and crew will be Indians, but directed of course by the Iranian film director Majidi,” she says. The director has, for his first Hindi film, roped in Ishaan Khatter (younger brother of Shahid Kapoor) and A R Rahman to score the music.
