Kannada and Telugu film actress Shanvi Srivastava has beaten Sunny Leone to grab her first international project. The actress will be making her debut in a Chinese web series and television show. Titled The Dark Lord, the actress plays the role of an Indian princess in a couple of episodes and she recently travelled to China to shoot her portion in the show.

Apparently, the makers of the Chinese show were initially considering Sunny Leone, but later felt that the Baby Doll star was “too western” for the role. The team zeroed in on Shanvi, who according to them fits the bill when it comes to bringing authenticity to the role of an Indian princess.

The actress, who plays an NRI in Tarak was really enthusiastic about her shooting experience with the international team. “Over the first half of September, China was my travel destination. I had to undergo a look test to play an  Indian Princess. I learnt Chinese for the role,” says Shanvi, who shot her episodes on a huge set in the interiors of Guangzhou.

The actress says that a web series made in China is as grand as any movie. “During the shoot, I felt that the Chinese not only have brains, but are also very hardworking. A week's shoot was a memorable experience,” she says. The webseries revolved around the subject of India-China relations. “I felt very proud to be part of such a project. Irrespective of the differences,   acting is a profession is regardless of all that,” she says.

Shanvi's stint in South Indian films helped her pick up the Chinese language faster.  “I could learn the dialogues very quickly. It was interesting to record the dialogues and voice notes with the help of a Chinese translator. Malaysian director Chang is one of the bigwigs of the web series world in China,” she says.

Shanvi adds that only Chang knew English on the set and that he would explain her the episode vividly.

The actress, who is currently basking in the accolades that have come her way with Tarak has completed shooting for Mufti. She now  awaits to start of her next project with Ishan, directed by KM Chaitanya and follows this with Avane Sriman Narayana, a film by Sachin where she is paired opposite Rakshit Shetty.
