KOCHI: This year Mollywood will have a very quiet Onam with only three films making their way to the movie halls.

Director Vinayan’s low budget movie ‘Yakshiyum Njanum’ is the first to announce its release date. Two more low budget films have joined the list- director Rajiv Anchal’s ‘Pattinte Palazhi’ and ‘Aatmakatha’ by Sreenivasan.

National award winning actress Meera Jasmine is returning to Malayalam films after a gap with the movie ‘Pattinte Palazhi’. It is a musical with nine songs scored by Malayalam composer Suresh Manimala. Apart from Meera, the movie stars Revathy, Manoj K. Jayan, Nedumudi Venu, and Jagathy in important roles. Renowned playback singers like Chitra, Hariharan, Vijay Yesudas, and Ustad Faiyas Khan have sung in this film. Rajiv Anchal’s 1997 film ‘Guru’ was the Indian official entry for the Oscars in 1997.

The second movie, ‘Aatmakatha’ is about a blind couple and their positive attitude towards life. It is a very pleasant story, which is directed by a former associate of director Blessy, named Premlal.

The lead role of the blind pair is played by actor Sreenivasan and actress Sharbani Mukherjee. The supporting cast of the movie includes Sreelatha, Jagathy, and Kochu Preman. Malayalam music director Alphons Joseph has composed music for the film.
