KOCHI: All film organisations are made for the survival of certain individuals with some vested interest, said veteran actor Thilakan. “Cinema can be a business, but it should not be business alone. Film organisations without any freedom and ethics will pollute the industry,” he said. Thilakan was speaking at the press interaction organised by the makers of DAM999 on Monday.
Thilakan who was to do an important role in the film was later replaced by Rajit Kapur following the ban imposed by AMMA. “The fact that I couldn't be part of this film is a great loss for the artist in me. I still have the script of 'DAM999' with me. I did a lot of homework for the film and was all prepared for the character. Even the director of the film, Sohan Roy, was helpless that I couldn't act in it,” said Thilakan who made a comeback on screen after two years with ‘Indian Rupee'.
Thilakan said that since cinema has the power to influence people, more and more relevant films like DAM999 should be made. He also added that more than being an actor he takes pride in introducing talents like T A Razak and Lohitadas to the industry. The script of the film was released with Sohan Roy handing over a copy to chief guest Thilakan.
Sohan Roy said that it was his deep rooted passion to make a film on the Hollywood canvas with a made-in-India stamp on it while bidding for the Oscars. “The 3 D film has 16 national and international award winners in it and will be released in five languages,” he said.
Actor Linda Arsenio, cinematographer Ajayan Vincent, makeup artist Pattanam Rasheed and music director Ousepachan also spoke at the occasion. The film will be released on November 25.
