Will Meera Jasmine return to Tamil?

The actress might soon be seen in the sequel of 'Sandakozhi', a film that she had acted in, about six years ago.

Nobody knows why Meera Jasmine will agree to do a film. South India’s most elusive powerhouse of talent — arguably — Meera could soon feature in a Tamil film, which will be none other than the sequel to her famous flick 'Sandakozhi' (2005).

The Mambattiyan actress was introduced to Tamil films by director Lingusamy, who cast her in the blockbuster 'Run' in 2001. He had later given her a meaty role in his 'Sandakozi' in 2005 as well. Meera, known to be friends with him, has in principle-agreed to feature in the sequel to 'Sandakozhi' if the story requires her character.

An official source said Meera Jasmine had readily agreed when director Lingusamy approached her for a small but important role in 'Sandakozhi 2'.

“She had even offered to give him dates whenever required,” says a source. Meera currently has not signed any project and is spending time with family.

But nobody is sure if the sequel to 'Sandakozhi' will have her character. This is because two scripts are currently being prepared for the sequel, one by writer S Ramakrishnan, who had written the first part, apart from the filmmaker Lingusamy, who is writing his own sequel.

A final script is in the process of being readied after putting together the best of both writers.

Writer Ramakrishnan confirmed that he was writing the story for 'Sandakozhi 2'. “The sequel will have nearly all the characters of the first version, and will be a gradual extension of their lives. That’s most common in foreign films,” he said.

Ramakrishnan informed that 'Sandakozhi 2' is the fourth movie he is writing dialogues for Vishal after 'Sandakozhi', 'Avan Ivan' and 'Samaran'. 'Sandakozhi 2' has a lot of scope for Vishal to prove his acting ability in after Avan Ivan, he said.
