Jose Prakash to be laid to rest on Monday

The funeral of veteran actor Jose Prakash will be held at Ernakulam's St Mary's Basilica with full state honours.

KOCHI: The funeral of veteran actor Jose Prakash, who passed away here on Saturday, will be held at St Mary’s Basilica at 11 am on Monday, with full state honours. The body of the yesteryears’ star will be brought to Ernakulam Town Hall by 8 am for the public to pay last respects.

Meanwhile, people from different walks of life, including various political and cultural figures reached the house of Jose Prakash’s younger son in Aluva on Monday, where the actor’s body was kept, to pay tributes to him.

Politicians including Union Minister K V Thomas, P Rajeev MP, PC Chacko MP, Minister for Cinema K B Ganesh Kumar and  BJP general secretary A N Radhakrishnan visited the place and paid homage to the veteran actor.

Actor Mohanlal and directors Sibi Malayil, Kamal, Rosshan Andrrews and Vinayan also paid tributes to Jose Prakash.

The veteran actor, who had carved a niche for himself portraying the antagonist in Malayalam cinema, died aged 86, at a private hospital in Kochi, following prolonged illness.
