KOCHI: Yes, you heard it right. Unni Mukundan is turning a singer. The actor will be crooning a melodious number in his next film 'Achayans', where he plays a wayward youth, who is also an alcoholic.

Unni says the developments were unexpected. “During a pack-up party which Padmakumar, the producer of 'Achayans', had organised, I had sung. The director, Kannan Thamarakulam, and music director Rateesh Vega were impressed. They thought it would be a good idea if I could sing for 'Achayans'. And then I decided to give it a try,” says the actor.

The song, a pure melody, has been picturised on Unni and Sshivada.

After it was decided that he would be singing for the movie, he sat down with Rateesh to pen the lyrics, Unni added.

The movie has Unni Mukundan sharing screen space with Jayaram, Amala Paul and Prakash Raj. The actor will also be seen playing a social activist in his next in Telugu film
