KOCHI: Following Aadu and Aadu 2, Jayasurya is once again collaborating with producer Vijay Babu’s Friday Film House on a new film titled Thrissur Pooram. Vijay tells us that the film will showcase Jayasurya in a ‘serious, action avatar’.

“It’s a Thrissur-based mass film,” says Vijay. “It’s divided into several chapters, each named after the various stages of the pooram, such as Kodiyettam and Vedikettu. It’s an attempt to deliver a different kind of mass film and do justice to this genre. It will have all the ingredients necessary for an entertainer.”

Newcomer Rajesh Mohanan will be directing the film which has story, screenplay and music by Ratheesh Vegha. “Every event in the pooram has a certain kind of energy and we are trying to impart the same energy and exhilaration to this film,” says Ratheesh, who debuted as music composer with Jayasurya’s Cocktail. The composer who has also worked in two other films of the actor—Beautiful and D Company—will be debuting as a screenwriter through Thrissur Pooram. Deepu Joseph has been roped in to edit the film.

Just like Friday Film House’s previous films, Angamaly Diaries and June, Thrissur Pooram is expected to feature fresh faces alongside popular names. A casting call for the film will be issued on May 22.
The team is planning to start the shoot next month and release the film by October. Thrissur, Hyderabad, and Coimbatore will be the main filming locations.

Jayasurya was last seen in Ranjith Sankar’s Pretham 2. The actor is currently working in Prasobh Vijayan’s yet-untitled film. He is also slated to appear in Prajesh Sen’s Vellam.
