ALAPPUZHA: Veteran film actor Punnapra Appachan passed away on Monday following complications suffered from a head injury in a fall. He was 77. Appachan had been undergoing treatment after suffering internal bleeding in the brain.

A native of Punnapra in Alappuzha district, Appachan made his debut in Malayalam cinema in 1965 with 'Othenante Makan'. He gained wide recognition for his performance in 'Anubhavangal Paalichakal', in which he portrayed a trade union leader.
