A re-make of the Telugu film Gamyam, director Jacob Varghese’s version comes with a little bit of improvisation.

After a long gap, Ushakiran Movies offers a good entertainer for cinegoers, especially for the youth.

As far as Raghu Mukherjee’s performance is concerned, he has done a good job. If Mukherjee takes acting seriously, he may cement his place in Sandalwood. Kamalini Mukherjee, who makes her debut with this film, has acted well too.

Her performance as a social worker, concerned doctor and lover with principles, is a treat to watch. Kitty, who is known as Srinagar Kitty, has also proved himself in this film. Certainly, this film will give him a much needed break, after his earlier films bombed at the box office.

However, the comedy sequences of Lakshmi Devi and Sadhu Kokila are quite disconnected from the film’s theme. Dattathreya and C R Simha have provided good backup to the actors. The flick is all about Abhi alias Abhiram (Raghu Mukherjee) who loves parties and a luxurious life. He happens to meet Janaki (Kamalini Mukherjee) in a peculiar situation and is smitten by her. Janaki also wants to express her feelings to him but an incident at his birthday celebrations changes her mind.

Meanwhile, Abhi goes in search of Janaki. He happens to meet Seena alias Gaali Seenu (Kitty) on the way, a habitual thief. Seenu becomes friendly with Abhi with an intention to steal his motorcycle, but circumstances make Seenu help Abhi. But unfortunately, Seenu falls to Naxalites’ bullets and Abhi reunites with his sweetheart.

A well made film, it is sure to appeal to the classes as well as the masses.
