Just an ordinary Flick

From our online archive

Film: Jeeva (Kannada) Cast: Prajwal Devaraj, Ruthuva, Rangayana Raghu, Ch. Gurudutt, Chandrasekhar Director: Prabhu Srinivas IF some of the sequences, especially the hero falling in love with the heroine for no reason, and the heroine chiding hero’s father at a function are meant to be significant scenes, it seems that director Prabhu Srinivas has failed to feel the pulse of the audience. The other disadvantage of this film is dialogues.

For example, the heroine’s friend calls her, ‘pencil’ while the hero calls her ‘patient.’ Yes, it is true that heroine Ruthuva looks slim and lacks features, but it is not clear what made director to include such dialogues.

The other unconvincing scene is where a doctor advises his patient, who took extra dose of insulin, to come on his own to the hospital instead of making arrangements to send an ambulance with a doctor and other necessary medical equipments. The doctor even advises the hero on what medicines are to be taken from a road-side medical store. These scenes are too much to cope with for people who watch this film which is filled with love and action.

The film is about Jeeva (Prajwal Devaraj), a pampered son of a minister (Chandrasekhar).

Jeeva joins a college and frightens those who oppose him. In a peculiar situation, Jeeva falls in love with Jayanthi (Ruthuva), the daughter of an insurance agent. His father also supports him, but Jayanthi has other ideas. However, Jeeva succeeds in convincing Jayanthi and his father arranges a betrothal.

Meanwhile, Jeeva comes to know that he has brain tumour, thanks to a stupid doctor who exchanges Jeeva’s medical report with another person’s (who has the same name) report. Now, Jeeva wants Jayanthi to have a better future. So he enacts a revenge drama and makes her hate him.

Guru Kiran has provided good music.

Rangayana Raghu has provided good support but Chandrasekhar fails to impress. It is a worthy watch for those who love action-oriented films.
