A Sharadhaa

Rangan Style is a love story that does not pay off, largely due to a contrived script and done-to-death subject.

Rangananth alias Ranga (Pradeep) is an orphan who runs a CD store. Initially dead against love, Ranga changes his mind when he falls for Divya (Kannika Tiwari), a girl from Hubli who lives with her politician uncle in Bangalore. He manages to woo her and the duo decides to elope, as Divya’s family disapproves of Ranga being an orphan.

The chase in Rangan Style begins in the second half and the couple lands in front of a cop, a cameo played by Sudeep, who convinces Divya’s family to accept Ranga. However, the love story negotiates a twist when Ranga meets a stranger on social networking site and starts interacting with him. The rest of the movie deals with the consequences that arise from interactions with this stranger.

Pradeep, who started his career with Jolly Days, came to limelight during the Celebrity Cricket League. Rangan Style is his first attempt as a protagonist, and he has done a decent job. Kannika has done justice to the next-door-girl role. There is a certain cuteness and suspense to the movie that is likely to draw the young crowd. Sudeep’s guest appearance does not make its mark in the story. Cinematographer CiniTech Soori could have done better.

A little humour filled in by Sadhu Kokila and Rekha Das provides the occasional laugh. Except for  one peppy number, the songs composed by Gurukiran weigh the movie down. Prashanth has attempted to bring in a new twist to the same old love story but has ended up producing a rather boring flick.
