Shooting for Kamal Haasan’s next film has begun, finally. It’s title, however, has changed from Thalaivan Irukkiraan to Unnaipol Oruvan.
Unnaipol Oruvan is a remake of the Hindi small budget blockbuster, A Wednesday, which was originally directed by Neeraj Pandey.
The film is now being jointly produced by Raajkamal International and U TV Motion Pictures.
Starring Kamal Haasan and Mohanlal in the lead roles, the movie is being directed by debutant Chakri Toleti. Chakri and his brother Rajesh had also played small roles in Kamal Haasan’s previous film, Dasavathaaram, as his friend in the US, Ram, and as Mr Q, respectively.
Shooting for Unnaipol Oruvan began on Thursday at Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad, while shooting for the film’s Telugu version, Eenadu, is said to have begun two days ago, with Kamal Haasan and Venkatesh.
Shruti Haasan is composing music for this film. Shriya, who was signed up for Marmayogi, was originally suspected to be a part of this film but the actress has confirmed that she is not part of the project. The film does not have a female lead but the Hindi version had the role of a television journalist, played by Deepal Shaw.
While the rest of the crew of the film is not known, a short 27-second trailer of the film is being telecast on TV and the film’s official website, www.unnaipoloruvan.com
