There's a candour in Shruti Haasan’s manner of handling questions that makes you want to disbelieve reports about her starry airs.
In fact, she answers a question asking her about her airs the same manner. “If I was late for an event, that doesn’t mean I believed I could get away by coming late. I agree that we work for money and think I am a professional,” she says.
It is with the same professionalism that she handles a question about composing music for her dad’s film, Unnaipol Oruvan. “The idea doesn’t get finalised just because I am his daughter. We had talks about how this would work out, based on the nature of the film.
But all this news about me already completing composition for a song is rubbish,” she says. Ask her if her surname, like her dad recently remarked, would be an albatross round her neck, and she quickly disagrees. “Dad is being kind when he says this. There’s no denying that his name has done big things for me in life,” she says.
Music is clearly a passion but that doesn’t always mean she has to sing, says the actress. “I have sung for Luck, apart from Adiyay Kolludhey. I am part of the video for Raaghav Sachar’s album, Ho Jaane De, but am not singing. But music and poetry are things I can’t imagine living without. And my music band is like family to me,” she says.
Speaking about doing a Tamil film, she says ‘nothing wonderful’ has come her way after her project with Madhavan was shelved. “But I’d love to do a film in Tamil because I am at home only in Chennai.
I belong here. I am spoilt when it comes to that,” she signs off.
