FINALLY the shooting for Kamal Haasan’s next film has begun. It’s title has changed from ‘Thalaivan Irukkiraan’ to ‘Unnaipol Oruvan.’ It is a remake of the Hindi small budget blockbuster, ‘A Wednesday,’ which was directed by Neeraj Pandey. The film is being jointly produced by Raajkamal International and UTV Motion Pictures.

Starring Kamal Haasan and Mohanlal in the lead roles, the movie is being directed by debutante Chakri Toleti.

Chakri and his brother Rajesh played small roles in Kamal Haasan’s ‘Dasavathaaram’ as his US-based friend Ram and as Mr Q respectively. Shooting for ‘Unnaipol Oruvan’ began last Thursday at Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad. The shooting of the film’s Telugu version, ‘Eenadu,’ is said to have begun two days ago, with Kamal Haasan and Venkatesh in the lead roles.

Shruti Haasan is composing music for this film. Shriya, who was signed up for ‘Marmayogi,’ was said to be a part of this film but the actress has confirmed that she is not. The film does not have a female lead but the Hindi version had the role of a television journalist played by Deepal Shaw.

While the rest of the crew is not known, a short 27-second trailer of the film is being telecast on TV and the film’s official website, www.unnaipoloruvan.com
