Looks like controversial filmmaker Velu Prabakaran’s woes about 'Kadhal Arangam' are all set to end. The director, who has been involved with this project for more than four years, has not been able to release it owing to a tussle with the Censor Board. The reason for this was that the Velu Prabakaran and his director Velu Raja were not willing to cut down on the scenes of semi nudity in the film. Velu Prabakaran, who has written the screenplay, dialogues and story for this film, now heaves a sigh of relief as he is ready to release the film, having mellowed down its content.

'Kadhal Arangam', which is a bold look at women being taken as a sex object in the country, has been renamed Velu Prabakaranin 'Kadhal Kadhai', and is all set to hit screens in July.

The movie touches upon many controversial subjects like the caste system and explores sexuality. The filmmakers had to wait for over two years for their film to receive a Censor Board Certification.

The film originally had partial nudity, with the film’s heroine Sherlydas going topless for a few scenes. Due to this, the crew got into rough weather with the Censor Board officials in Chennai, following which they moved to Delhi to fight their case. But due to their inability to receive a certification for the film, the filmmakers have mellowed the content in the film, renamed it and are waiting to release it next month.

The script is largely biographical, with Velu Prabakaran weaving his real life incidents like his school love, marriage and separation from his wife in the script. The movie has Rathan, Shirlydas, Prithi and Velu Prabakaran himself in the lead roles, and is being produced by JSK Corporation.
