BANGALORE: Film: Rajkumari (Kannada) Cast: Balaji, Kanniha, Nikitha, Ravichandran, Ramaneethu Chowdhary, Rangayana Raghu, Srinivasamurthy, Thulasi, Bullet Prakash Director: S Govind Raj

This film, despite all the hype, fails to meet cinegoers’ expectations.

If the quality of its script is anything to go by, it belongs to an age at least 10 years ago. Its concept will certainly not go well with the youth.

Unfortunately, even Balaji lets all his fans down because his performance is not up to the mark. Though he did well in stunt sequences, he has to improve a lot in other departments.

The young actress Nikitha gives him maximum cooperation in dance sequences but he fails to match up to her.

Ravichandran has also disappointed his fans with a lacklustre performance.

He is yet to come out of the shadow of his earlier film, Malla.

His hairstyle, dance and the skills in waving a Kannada flag remind us a song sequence of the film Malla.

Ramaneethu Chowdhary’s role is brief. She also fails to do justice to her character. Tamil heroine Kanniha looks pale.

Balu alias Raj (Balaji) falls in love with Kumari (Kanniha) who stays along with her son in the same premises where he stays. Raj has been in love with Kumari for four years but not able to express his feelings to her.

Meanwhile, Bably (Nikitha), the daughter of a rich businessman, falls in love with Raj. The more he tries to avoid her the more she tries to come closer to him.

He tells her that he was in love with Kumari. But Kumari had other ideas. At this juncture, director introduces Ravichandran and explains how Kumari’s father killed him and how she decided to foster his son.

The climax is how Kumari realises her mistake and join hands with Raj.

It is worth watching if you have no other alternative to spend your time.

The only saving grace of this film are the songs. Music director Harikirshna tried his best to compose tunes which rise above the movie.
