Film: Veera Madakari (Kannada) Cast: Sudeep, Ragini, Devaraj, Dharma, Tennis Krishna, Arun, Doddanna, Vanisree Director: Sudeep

Veera Madakari is the third directorial venture for actorcum- director Sudeep, his earlier films being `My Autograph’ and `No. 73 Shantinivasa’. This is a remake of the Telugu film `Vikramarkudu’, and he has tried his best to follow the Telugu version faithfully and has succeeded in entertaining his hard core fans, for almost three hours. It is nice to see Sudeep matching steps with the young and energetic Ragini in the dance sequences.

Ragini goes beyond being just a pretty face, with a good performance.

Her dancing skills and graceful movements are a treat to watch.

Vanishree also pitches in with a worthy cameo. Sudeep has performed well, and his stunt sequences will certainly make the front-benchers happy. Character artiste, Tennis Krishna, has tried his best to do justice to his role. The locales have also added to the quality of the movie, with cinematographer Sri Venkat capturing the beauty of Badami and Pattadakal wonderfully. Keeravani’s music is melodious and the songs are hummable.

Satyaraju (Sudeep) and his friend (Tennis Krishna) are petty thieves. In a peculiar situation, Satyaraju falls in love with Niraja (Ragini). They are set to get married, when Niraja mistakes Satyaraju as the father of an “illicit child” and decides to move on. At this juncture, the Madhakari (Sudeep again) is introduced and it is told how he antagonises Babloo of Chambal area and how he tries to protect the self-respect of policemen.

Finally, Satyaraju goes to Chambal area in the guise of Madhakari and bashes the living daylights out of Babloo and his gang.

The only disadvantage of t h i s f i l m is the length, d i rect o r Sudeep c o u l d trim it a little bit.

But overall, a good entertainer for Sudeep’s fans.
