All eyes are on Harshavardhan, the youngster who is making his debut in a full-fledged role with the release of 'Moscowin Kaveri' on Friday. Facing the camera may seem to be a natural choice for Harshavardhana, the son of Y Gee Mahendra and nephew of Rajinikanth but the young lad says that for him, acting was more of a coincidence than anything else.

“While I was working as an assistant director to KS Ravikumar for 'Dasavathaaram', Ravi Varman, who was handling the cinematography for the film, told me about a script he was working on ('Moscowin Kaveri' also marks Ravi Varman’s directorial debut). He told me about this role that has negative shades. My dad and my uncle were also encouraging and I decided to give it a shot,” says Harsha, who holds degrees in commercial photography and video production.

“I spent three years in the UK studying the different aspects of film-making. I had always thought of myself as a director. But I thoroughly enjoyed being in front of the camera. But I had to shed some weight for it,” he says and adds, “After doing a role with negative shades, I would love to explore more such opportunities. Villains have all the fun after all!”

This is not the first time that Harsha will be seen before the camera. He appeared as the photographer in the song 'Mukunda Mukunda' in 'Dasavathaaram' and has also acted in a couple of commercials. About Moscowin Kaveri he says, “It has an interesting plot and my camaraderie with the cast has been great.”

Harsha cherishes having grown up in a family of film veterans and admits that it was always an inspiring journey. “Anyone associated with my father’s theatre productions is aware of his eye for perfection and precision in acting. Before I started my career, uncle Rajinikanth told me, ‘Do not be afraid to board the train. Life’s like a train journey where you meet many strangers with whom you bond at times. Just grab your opportunities at the right time’.”

What about his directorial dreams? “I have been working on at least two scripts, which I will proceed with after this film is out. I want to make a thorough entertainer. I take inspiration from a number of Hollywood and local films. I have a small studio named HRCL. What is the full form? That will be revealed in good time,” Harsha says and grins.
