ACTOR Arya’s production company The Show People is producing a film titled Padithurai.
Set in and around Thirunelveli, the film is directed by debutant Suka, who worked as an assistant with the ace filmmaker and cinematographer Balu Mahendra right from Sathi Leelavathi. Abiram makes his debut as hero and Chandini of Siddhu +2 plays his love interest.
Says the director Suka, “There are about 40 new faces in the film including a 85-year-old lady Kuppammal.
Director Azhagam Perumal is also playing an important role in the film.” A family entertainer, the music has been composed by maestro Ilaiyaraja. Nanjil Nadan and dialogue writer S Ramakrishnan are making their debut as lyricists. Singer Bombay Jayashree has sung a classical number in this film.
She has also sung another album together with Sudha Raghunathan. “Kaniyan Koothu, a folk art, has been used in the film’s music. We have also shot at the Therottam of Nellai Appar Temple. Another highlight of the film is that all technicians including assistant directors of the film have appeared in at least one scene in the film,” adds the director.
