CHENNAI: The Ajith-starrer ‘Billa’, a remake of Superstar Rajinikanth’s 1980 flick, was a huge hit in 2007. Since then, plans for a sequel to ‘Billa’ have been doing the rounds in the industry. Now, the official announcement has been made.

Yuvan Shankar Raja, who scored music for ‘Billa’, is the music director for the film, which is produced jointly by IN Entertainment(INE) Wide Angle Creations’ Suresh Balaji and George Pius. Chakri Toleti, who directed Kamal Haasan in ‘Unnai Pol Oruvan’, is directing the movie that will go on floors in the first week of May. The cast and crew of ‘Billa2’ would be announced on March 15.

As announced earlier, ‘Billa2’ is not a sequel to ‘Billa’, but a prequel, as the film would focus on the journey of David, the protagonist, and how he became a notorious don.
