Sona files petition to block Charan’s bail

The actress has lodged a complaint with police alleging SP Balasubrahmanyam's son had outraged her modesty.

CHENNAI: Actor Sona Heiden (34) of Teynampet has moved the High Court to permit her to implead herself in the anticipatory bail application filed by singer and film producer SP Kalyan Charan, son of famous singer SP Balasubrahmanyam.

The criminal miscellaneous petition was to oppose grant of any relief to Charan. Originally, Sona lodged a complaint with the Pondy Bazaar police alleging that Charan had outraged her modesty at a private function on September 14 last. The function was to celebrate the victory of Tamil film ‘Mankatha’ at actor Vaibhav’s house in T Nagar. The police registered an FIR for ofences under Sec 354 and Sec 4 of the TN Prohibition of Harassment of Woman Act. Apprehending arrest, Charan moved the High Court and sought advance bail and the same was pending before Justice G Rajasuriya. Meanwhile, Sona filed the present petition to intervene in the matter and oppose grant of the relief. The matter will come up before Justice Rajasurya tomorrow (September 22).
