The director’s first production titled Manja Pai features Vimal and Lakshmi Menon in the lead roles.

Director Sarkunam, whose two films — Kalavani and Vaagai Sooda Vaa — won rave reviews in the past, has forayed into production and named his production company, A Sarkunam CinemaZ. His brother A Nandhakumar will fund the films produced under this banner and their first venture is titled Manja Pai. It may be noted that Sarkunam’s earlier project with actor Dhanush was titled Manja Pai. However, the director clarified later that the Dhanush-starrer would be titled Sottavazhakutty.

Manja Pai will be directed by Sarkunam’s assistant N Raghavan and will have actors Vimal, (who played lead roles in both Sarkunam’s earlier films) and Lakshmi Menon of Sundarapandian and Kumki fame in the lead roles, and actor Raj Kiran in another important character.

Vimal is already part of several upcoming films, including Kedi Billa Killadi Ranga, Moondru Per Moondru Kaadhal, Sillunu Oru Sandhippu, Rendavathu Padam, Koothu and Jannal Oram.

Composer Gibran, whose Vaagai Sooda Vaa was one of the best albums of the previous year, joins Sarkunam in Manja Pai as well. Interestingly, another production house —Thiruppathi Brothers — that belongs to director Lingusamy, has already bought the entire movie rights of Manja Pai, though the actual shooting of the film has been scheduled to go on floors from February 2013.
