Director Vetrimaran turns producer

The movie would be directed by Vetrimaran's assistant and actor Siddharth is said to play the lead role in the film.

The year 2010 is definitely one that will remain etched in director Vetrimaran’s mind for a long time to come. For, it was in this year, that  he won so many awards including the prestigious National Award for his Aadukalam. Now, the director is busy shooting his next film, Vada Chennai.

The latest about this Simbu-starrer, in which actress Andrea and Telugu actor Rana Daggubati play crucial roles, is that Vetrimaran will be conducting a workshop before beginning work on it. Though the director didn’t want to discuss about his workshop, he confirmed that he wanted to extend this initiative to all his future projects. “I want to have such workshops as part of pre-production in all my films hereafter,” he said.

He also confirmed that he would be producing a movie that would be directed by one of his assistants. “Shooting will start in February and go on till April,” he said. Siddharth is said to play the lead role in this film. The director said, “Durai Senthil Kumar is directing the movie. He was working as an assistant director to Balu Mahendra sir and has worked with me in both my films too. It’s the kind of story that I wanted to produce for a long time,” he said.

It should be noted that he is also penning the dialogues for another film, Naan Rajavaga Pogiren, which is being directed by his friend Prithvi Rajkumar with actor Nakul playing the lead.
