Actor Simbhu’s long-in-the-making Podaa Podi seems nearly set to see the day of light. The film crew will head to Macau, Hong Kong on March 20 to shoot the final schedule.

This film marks the debut of actress Varalakshmi Sarathkumar. “It has been a long wait for Podaa Podi and I hope the film releases this summer. We are on the final schedule and leaving on March 20 to Macau for the song shoot.”

It wasn’t hard task for her to play the role of a dancer in this film, as Varu, as she is fondly called, is a professional dancer. Having trained in Salsa, it was a cakewalk for her to play the role of a dancer. She says, “Here, in this film, I  play a dancer who has specialised in different styles like Latin American, Samba, Hip hop and Ballet. So, the role suited my personality very well that I didn’t have to take any special training.”

A tomboy character in real, Varu’s dream is to play heroine-oriented films. “I have loved actress Vijayshanthi and the kind of films she has acted in. I have always wanted to do such roles, since, I have just debuted, I first want to establish myself as an actress and would opt for Heroine-centric films.”

Next in the pipeline for the actress is director Radha Mohan’s Gauravam. Varu will play the female lead  opposite Naga Chaitanya. “I have already signed my second film, the shooting of which will start in April,” says the actress, who was the cynosure of all eyes at a special Blind Date organsied at Sathyam Cinemas on Thursday, on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
