Living up to his role

It’s not often that you see actor Daniel Balaji on screen, but the impact he creates with occasional appearances makes up for his absence.

The actor, who is known to play his roles to perfection, seems to have continued it with his upcoming Tamil film Gnana Kirukkan.

“The film is neither a written story, nor based on any incident. Director Ilayadevan has attempted to portray the life of a man Ganesan, who is still alive in his native town, on celluloid and I have tried my best to bring the same person on screen,” says Daniel. The film is about a psychic and the struggles his wife and son face in society.

Daniel believes that Gnana Kirukkan will begin a new trend in K-town.

Actor Senthil of Marina and Pasanga fame, plays Daniel’s wife in the film and actor Archana Kavi pairs with debutant hero Jehaa. Taj Noor has composed the music.

Daniel’s latest Tamil film, Mithivedi, which was made targeting film festivals, has won him accolades from international audiences. Meanwhile, the actor has completed five films in Malayalam, of which Paisa Paisa is set for release on June 28.

In Tamil, three of his films — Marumugam, Kedadhavan and Kelvi — are in different stages of production and the actor is planning to take up more scripts from now on.
