Vadivelu gets 60's style return tune

Comedian Vadivelu’s comeback film Thenali Raman went on the floors at a city studio on Monday morning. The film is directed by Potta Potti’s Yuvraaj and has music by  D Imman. The music director has composed one song for the film. Apparently, Vadivelu himself was present during  the recording at  Imman’s sound studio last week. Now, the same song has been shot on the first day of the shooting of this film, produced by AGS Entertainment.

Speaking to CE, Imman discloses, “It was nice to meet Vadivelu  in person when he came to my recording studio. I have given the track a feel of music from the sixties. When he heard the tune, he thanked me and said, ‘you have given me a tune like that of MGR and Sivaji films’. He is a great fan of both the late thespians, so he was elated.” Thenali Raman, the court poet of king Krishna Deva Raya, was first made in Tamil in 1938, with Joker Ramudu playing Thenali. Later, Sivaji Ganesan immortalised the role in the 1956 movie Tenali Raman, with NT Rama Rao playing Krishnadeva Raya. The film directed by B S Ranga was based on a play by C K Venkatramaiah. But apparently, Yuvraaj has written a fresh script based on the legend of Thenali Raman, for this film.

The song already composed by Imman, will show Vadivelu singing     before the King in his durbar. There are totally four songs and one small song in the film. For Imman, the movie was a challenge, “It’s the first time I am doing a film with a historical setting. So I didn’t want to miss the offer when it came and didn’t think twice before accepting it.”
