The release of Tamil feature film Madha Gaja Raja starring Vishal in the lead role was stayed by the Madras High Court on Thursday.

Justice R Sudhakar granted the injunction while taking on file a civil suit from  Santhanam, a resident of Australia.

Santhanam claimed that the original producers of the movie “Gemini Films” had come to Australia for the shooting of the movie and after negotiations agreed to pay approx AUD$ 90,000 (Rs 60,00,000) for rendering his services.

He provided complete facilities such as food, accommodation, costumes, production equipment and travel facilities for the entire production unit and film stars during their stay in Australia.

Gemini Films promised him to pay his money after their arrival back in India. After the return to India, Gemini films sold the movie to Vishal Film Factory.

To his shock and surprise, Vishal Film Factory, not only refused to pay the money due to him, but also ignored him completely.

Santhanam had contacted Gemini Films and actor Vishal several times.

However, he was threatened with dire consequences, Santhanam alleged.

Senior advocate ARL Sundaresan appeared for Santhanam.

The judge directed Vishal Film Factory not to release the movie till September 10.
